Autism Awareness Events in The Bronx

Next month (April) is Autism Awareness Month and I'm so happy that there are so many amazing events in my borough of The Bronx. And I'm so happy that 3 of the 4 major events have been organized by women I call friends.

Bronx Walk Now for Autism Speaks
Sunday, April 6th, 2014, 9:00AM

Orchard Beach, Bronx, NY

Yes, I know. Autism Speaks. I'm not always in agreement with their philosophy - BUT, this is the first time the walk has been organized in The Bronx.  The Bronx is grossly underserved and lacking when it comes to resources, services and appropriate schools. So if people don't show up to this event simply because they do not agree with Autism Speaks, think about the optics. People won't see a low attendance number as a protest against the organization. They will simply think that the residents of The Bronx do not care about autism.
